Parties Divide Us

“I hate all politics. I don’t like either political party. One should not belong to them – one should be an individual, standing in the middle. Anyone that belongs to a party stops thinking.” -Ray Bradbury

I do not hate all politics, but I understand why many do. There are far too many opinions and “facts”. It’s hard to sort out what is true and false with the increasing amount of “news” on social media.

I also understand the contempt held about parties. Too often issues are outlined in a black and white way when there is actually a lot of grey area. This creates way too much partisan divide.

We would all be way better off if everyone approached politics from an individual standpoint. Only to a certain extent, because you should care about others (even if that’s only slightly). But eithe way it is better to be an individual than to blindly follow a party because atleast you formulated your own opinion. Parties simplify issues and prevent complex problems from receiving complex solutions.

  1. I totally agree with your statements. It felt so good to finally get to the point to where I did not have to blindly follow a party. They have platforms, but they do not stick to them and I feel no allegiance to them, but yet there are so many that continually give them chances over and over again despite the fact that they always leave us high and dry and the result of the recent health care votes is further proof. Great thoughts!
